Picture-before and after-
From time to time you add a piece of furniture to a room, or sometimes it is a great feeling just to move an existing piece to a new spot in the house. But even easier(as you don't need the man power or their permission!)is transforming a piece with a new display!
Adding to collections and bringing new bits and pieces together brings a sense of style and personality to your home-

-this shows who you are and adds a touch of homeliness to the place you live in. Whether your style is modern, vintage, traditional, exotic or eclectic(a bit of everything!), what used to be called knick-knacks and considered dust collectors, has been reinvented as the more stylish 'vignette' and can be adapted to any style of decor.

The trick is to layer and style so the eye takes a journey around the space. Create different heights with various sized pieces or use books and things to stack and display on.
Add textures with a mixture of materials and there you have it!
...and the dust???? well you will love the re-creating so much, in a few weeks you will move it around and hey presto!   -you've dusted!

...a bowl or basket of collected things brings, texture and a personal touch and interest to the space. Whether found or bought, anyone in the family can add to it and it creates another layer to the story of your home.

I happened upon your blog via Temole & Webster and want to say that your piece on vignettes is easy to read and gives me hope. I sometimes get overwhelmed by the imagery in magazines and feel inadequate with my own haphazard attempts at styling. Thankyou for simplifying it and will use some of your helpful tips.
